3 bedroom riverside cottage in the heart of the Norfolk Broads

Resthaven is situated in the popular Broadland village of Potter Heigham on the banks of the River Thurne (see www.norfolkbroads.com for map).  Access to the cottage is by 300m walk or boat ride.  Parking is available: £20 - £25 per week.

The Surrounding Area

The Norfolk Broads have been designated as the latest of Britains National Parks. 

One hundred and twenty miles of waterways, marshes fen and woodland are home to some of the rarest plants and wildlife in England.  The best way to appreciate and explore the broads is by boat.  Weekly boat hire can be arranged locally by us with local boatyards on your behalf (please ask for details) or see www.broads.co.uk. Day launches are also available for hire on a hourly/daily basis in Potter Heigham.

The River Thurne is well known for its excellent fishing and many large pike have been caught nearby. There is a well stocked fishing tackle shop in Potter Heigham.  Further information on the Norfolk Broads is available on www.broads-authority.gov.uk.  The Weavers Way runs nearby and offers excellent opportunities for walking and cycling. Potter Heigham itself has 2 pubs, shops, fish and chip shop and Broad Information centre.  Stalham, 4 miles away, offers the usual traditional market town facilities including take-aways, pubs, restaurants and Tesco’s supermarket as well as canoe and cycle hire.  There are many pubs within walking or boating distance of Resthaven – sample menus can be found in the cottage.

The beautiful Norfolk coast is only 6 miles drive, offering quiet rural beaches at Waxham and Horsey and a Blue Flag beach at Sea Palling. For a complete change of pace the traditional seaside attractions of Great Yarmouth are within 10 miles.  North Norfolk, a little further away, offers quaint towns and villages to explore with a stunning coastline and quays, home to seals and much wildlife.(www.north-norfolk.gov.uk) Further a field is the historic city of Norwich with its theatres, museums and shopping malls.(www.visitnorwich-area.co.uk)
